Ida Kornevi

Conference Organizer

Charlotte Miller

Assistant Conference Organizer

"I’m the Assistant Organizer for this year’s conference and a (soon to be) 3rd year student. After attending the first conference in my 1st year I was very keen to become involved in such an impactful event for veterinary students and professionals. I am incredibly proud of the conference that started off as an SRC project but has now grown to include the annual conference and a student society. I hope that it will continue to deliver vitally important training for vet students. I am particularly interested in farm animal welfare and the ethics surrounding their use as production animals. I also have a passion for marine mammals and their conservation."

Yuko Okumura

Assistant Conference Organizer

"I joined the conference committee in my first year, after attending the 2018 conference. My role in the committee has been quite flexible; helping out with anything that needs to be done. Apart from welfare and ethics, I’m interested in shelter medicine and conservation medicine, but I think my interests will change throughout my degree. I’m a spontaneous person and I like swimming and running."

Ida Marwedel

Promotion

"I am Ida and I am on the promotional team for this year's conference. I am going in to third year having just done an intercalated degree in veterinary conservation, which is my big passion. I am particularly interested in the links between in-situ and ex-situ conservation, and how they can work together for the same goal. In my free time I love being outdoors, bouldering or windsurfing."

Rowena Limbrick

Sponsorship

"Hi! My name is Rowena Limbrick and I’m a 4th year here at the R(D)SVS. This year I’ve been on the sponsorship team helping to organise the Ethics and Welfare Conference 2019. I am interested in the human animal bond and animal welfare, especially how as vets we can work to safeguard and improve welfare in practice."

Beatrice Peev

Sponsorship

"Hi, I’m Beatrice and I’m in fourth year. This year I am part of the sponsorship team for the Ethics and Welfare Conference. After I graduate, I would like to go into small animal practice and maybe specialise in surgery or internal medicine. One of my interests is the varying standards of animal welfare in different countries and how this can be tackled."

Hannah-Olivia Foster

Sponsorship

"I was interested in animal welfare before coming to university, obviously, but being here has really allowed me to get involved and become more educated in general. I really enjoyed the 2018 conference, as well as the talks given throughout the year. Outside of the animal welfare committee I am currently also on the committee for the Exmoor pony trekking society, as Herd Improvement where I have backed a pony alongside also enhancing the ridden abilities of new ponies and modifying the behaviour of other ponies within the herd. I also enjoy playing sports, such as hockey and rugby, having been on the Dick vet ladies rugby team."

Gertie O'Rourke

Catering

"Hi! I’m Gertie, I’m in third year and helped organise food & drinks! I like to dream about a world where all animals are treated like they’re the only cow/cat/chicken in the world - and I think the Ethics & Welfare Conference makes this dream a teeny bit more possible! I’m so happy to be involved. Wildlife medicine is my big passion, along with a splattering of farm."
